Before coming to the Bar, Anca was the Judicial Assistant to Sir Geoffrey Vos, in the Court of Appeal, where she gained experience in a broad range of civil disputes. Anca also assisted Sir Geoffrey Vos with his work on the Cryptoassets Taskforce report.

Prior to her pupillage, Anca taught Property and Trusts at the LSE (2017-2020) and King’s College London (2019-2020) as well as Contracts at UCL (2017-18). Anca was awarded the LSE Law Department Prize for Teaching in 2020. Anca has also been admitted to the New York Bar.

Anca is a Romanian native speaker, with an intermediate level of Spanish.

Recent Cases:

  • Currently acting as sole counsel for a defendant in a claim under the Partnership Act 1890. The case will be listed for a 4-day trial in the second half of 2022 (County Court).
  • Acting for a crypto-ATM provider in an RDC hearing (involving issues of AML/CTF compliance) (led by Farhaz Khan).
  • Advising the liquidators of an LLP regarding potential claims against former directors (led by William Day).  
  • Regularly acting for financial institutions defending Consumer Credit Act 1974 claims, including HSBC UK Bank PLC, Santander Cards UK Limited, Lloyds Bank PLC, MBNA Limited.

Before taking tenancy, Anca assisted her supervisors and other members of Chambers in various matters spanning 3VB’s practice areas including:

  • An injunction granted to a FTSE 100 company  prohibiting  payment  under  a  guarantee structure involving banks in London and the Middle East.
  • An LCIA arbitration of trade finance insurance disputes arising from Singapore/India commodities trades.
  • A dispute in the UK Supreme Court between the Crown Prosecution Service and a company regarding the relationship between illegality and attribution (Crown Prosecution Service v Acquila Advisory Ltd (Respondent) UKSC 2019/0105).
  • An UNCITRAL arbitration between two major drinks manufacturers arising out of  the termination of a cost-sharing agreement, including claims for compensation under the Commercial Agents Regulations.

  • An UNCITRAL arbitration between two major drinks manufacturers arising out of the termination of a cost-sharing agreement, including claims for compensation under the Commercial Agents Regulations (as a pupil, supervised by Christopher Bond)
  • A series of claims brought by a public limited company against various investment banks for misuse of confidential information and market price manipulation (as a pupil, supervised by Farhaz Khan)
  • An injunction granted to a FTSE 100 company prohibiting  payment  under  a  guarantee structure involving banks in London and the Middle East (as a  pupil,  supervised  by  Farhaz Khan)
  • A claim by a consortium of Indian banks seeking repayment of 70 mil USD against a borrower and guarantor (as a pupil, supervised by Cleon Catsambis)
  • A dispute in the UK Supreme Court between the Crown Prosecution Service and a company regarding the relationship between illegality and attribution (Crown Prosecution Service v Acquila Advisory Ltd (Respondent) UKSC 2019/0105) (as a  pupil,  with  Andrew  Sutcliffe  QC and Anne Jeavons)
  • A claim for repudiatory breach arising during the Covid-19 pandemic (as a pupil, supervised by Cleon Catsambis)
  • Acted for an international payment provider in a contractual dispute  regarding  an  alleged breach of the provider’s terms and conditions (as sole counsel)
  • An application to contest jurisdiction of the English Court, brought by a Swiss Company under Articles 27-30 of the Lugano Convention (as a pupil, supervised by Farhaz Khan)
  • Acting for a crypto-ATM provider in an RDC hearing (involving issues of AML/CTF compliance) (led by Farhaz Khan).
  • An LCIA arbitration of trade finance insurance disputes arising from Singapore/India commodities trades (as a pupil, supervised by Peter Ratcliffe)
