3VB has a long history of acting in insurance and reinsurance disputes of all kinds. Our clients include insureds, various Lloyd’s Syndicates, many of the major corporate insurers and reinsurers and many of the leading insurance and reinsurance brokers.
Our barristers have been instructed in most of the major insurance and broking disputes of recent years including, most recently, Covid Business Interruption claims, with members being part of the FCA team in the Supreme Court for the FCA test case ([2021] UKSC 1), and acting for the insured in the China Tai Ping Arbitration (which provided useful guidance as to the application of the Supreme Court’s decision in a published award by Lord Mance).
3VB is also a leader in the field of insurance regulation, with members frequently acting for policyholders, firms and the Regulators (including acting for policyholders, the PRA and the FCA in the recent Court of Appeal decision of Prudential & Rothesay [2020] EWCA Civ 1626).
Members’ expertise includes both Court and Arbitral Proceedings, in England and Wales but also in foreign jurisdictions such as Bermuda, the Cayman Islands, Dubai, Hong Kong and Singapore.
Members also frequently act as Arbitrators in Insurance disputes.
