Teniola is developing a broad commercial practice in line with Chambers' profile.
During pupillage, Teniola assisted her supervisors (William Edwards, Catherine Gibaud, Laura John and Matthew Parker) and other members of Chambers with a range of matters. She gained experience across the breadth of general commercial law, including banking (including claims under guarantees, bills of exchange and PPI disputes), financial services, professional negligence (including claims against solicitors and valuers), civil fraud (including mortgage fraud), intellectual property and insurance.
Teniola is regularly instructed to appear at interim and final hearings in the County Courts. She works in particular on banking disputes and debt claims (including the enforcement of guarantees and Consumer Credit Act agreements). Teniola also undertakes a variety of written work including drafting pleadings and settling witness evidence in areas of general commercial law.
Teniola assisted Robert Purves (acting for the Financial Services Authority) with preparing for the Court of Appeal hearing in a case involving a claim made pursuant to a deed poll executed by a regulated firm as part of the FSA's business transfer arrangements.
Before coming to the Bar, Teniola spent a year at the Law Commission (2008-9), working on the review of Insurance Contract Law and the Third Parties (Rights against Insurers) Bill (now the Third Parties (Rights against Insurers) Act 2010).
