Rory Phillips has a wide-ranging practice in the fields of commercial and public law. He has considerable experience of conducting very substantial and very high-profile litigation.
He has recognised expertise in insurance/ reinsurance and professional negligence (particularly for and against brokers). He has been rated by the directories in these areas for many years. Regulatory work, both in insurance and financial services, has long been a feature of his practice.
He was on the Attorney General's A Panel of Counsel from 1999-2002. From 2005 to 2009, he was principally engaged as Counsel to the Rosemary Nelson Inquiry. From 2009 to 2011 he led a substantial Counsel team on behalf of the Government Defendants in claims made by former detainees at Guantanamo Bay.
His current workload includes representing the Mayor's Office for Policing and Crime in the Leveson Inquiry.
